Kings Lock Cottage

Kings Lock cottage was built in 1796 and is the last surviving lock keeper's cottage in Leicester. It has been run as a tearoom since 2004.

Kings Lock  No 38

Kings Lock is situated directly in front of the cottage. It is Lock Number 38 on the Leicester branch of the Grand Union Canal and is the point were the river becomes a canal.

The Boathouse & outdoors

An all weather outdoor seating facility together with ample open area seating means you can enjoy the setting whatever the weather.

Indoor seating

There are comfortable indoor seating areas so you can enjoy friendly chats in our cosy period tearoom.

Dog friendly

Dogs are very welcome in the garden areas and the Boathouse. We provide bowls of water and a selection of doggie snacks from the menu.

Enjoy the beautiful views across The Meadows and  challenge yourself to name the varied wildlife that you spot.
